and in several locations in Kingston and St Andrew.

During the academic year 2014/15, the LSGIS Division

presented topographical plans to the Professional

Development Institute in Kingston and to three schools

in the wider Negril area.

The division continues to make a significant contribution

to community development through the extensive

surveys carried out by students in the practicum

exercises. In the summer 2015 practicum exercises,

the first year students, in addition to surveys of

schools, will conduct an extensive beach survey as the

beginning of a longitudinal study of the beach erosion

along the historic Negril beach. The information from

this study will be of great value to the work of the

Natural Resources and Conservation Authority (NRCA)

and the many stakeholders in the tourism sector.

REGIONAL STUDY TOURS

Caribbean School of Architecture (CSA)

The regional study tours are an important initiative of the

CSA as they provide the students and accompanying

faculty members with not just professional knowledge

and experience but also cultural exposure and the

possibility of widening their social network. The tours

also serve as an excellent promotional opportunity

for the CSA and its courses of study. Many linkages

are established for continued collaborations with

these institutions through exchanges in both the

undergraduate and graduate programmes, and for

possible student internships.
