Bulletin #2

President’s Advisory on Reopening of University Campus and Resumption of Classes

The UTech, Jamaica Community is being advised that the University will be reopened for normal operations and scheduled classes on Monday, July 8, 2024. However, scheduled classes at the College of Oral Health Sciences Arthur Wint Drive Campus, will resume on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

I hope that all staff and students are safe following the passage of Hurricane Beryl, and I urge you to continue to keep safe as we recover from the effects of the passage of the weather system.

I extend my appreciation and gratitude to our leadership team, faculty, staff, and the Student's Union for your exceptional dedication and hard work in preparing our campus for Hurricane Beryl and conducting the recent assessments after it had passed.

Special thanks to the Facilities Management Department (FMD) and the Safety and Security personnel for going above and beyond in your duties, especially during the subsequent cleanup and restoration activities. Your commitment has been instrumental in ensuring that our campuses are safe and ready for the return of staff and students.

We are aware that there may be lingering challenges caused by the dislocation from the passage of the hurricane and as such urge staff who may be unable to physically return to the campus, to inform your supervisor and arrange for remote work and business continuity in your respective area of responsibility. We urge students to contact their respective college/faculty for consultation regarding any specific challenges they may face.

Please continue to stay safe as we recover from the effects of the hurricane.

Yours sincerely,

Dr. Kevin Brown
President
