New President, Dr. Kevin Brown Warmly Welcomed on Board

Dr. Kevin Brown, new President, University of Technology, Jamaica was warmly welcomed by the leadership team on his arrival for his first official day in office, on Monday, September 11, 2023.
Met on arrival by Deputy Chair of Council, Mr. Aldrick McNab, Vice President and University Registrar/Secretary of Council, Miss Marion Brown, and Associate Vice President, Advancement, Mr. Hector Wheeler, the new President was escorted to the Lobby of the Main Administration Building, Papine Campus, where he was presented to members of the leadership team and representatives from the Council who extended a warm welcome.
Presenting Dr. Brown, to the team, Mr. McNab noted that, "today marks another milestone in the history of UTech, Jamaica with the arrival of our new President,” and invited the receiving party to “join hands in welcoming the University of Technology, Jamaica’s 5th president, Dr. Kevin Brown.”
Dr. Brown exchanged handshakes, words of welcome, and well wishes with each member of the receiving party, comprising Deputy President, Vice Presidents, Associate Vice Presidents, Deans, staff union representatives, and the Students’ Union President.

In his remarks, Dr. Brown thanked the team for the warm welcome, affirming “It is a pleasure to be back!” He added that, “as some of you know, I entered the institution 26 years ago and UTech has been a transformative experience. I took a lot of what I learnt here with me to the UK, and I’m really pleased to be back, and I look forward to working with all of you. It’s going to be a team effort, so yes, I’m here but all of you, all your talents will be required to do the work that we need to do to transform this institution, so I look forward to meeting all of you to talk about how we move forward.”
