Academic Advisement Information 2024
All students of the Faculty of Science and Sport are assigned to an academic advisor by the Faculty Academic Advisement Unit (FAAU). Students in Years 1 and 2 are advised by Student Advisement Officers (SAOs), whilst students in Years 3 and beyond are assigned to general academic advisors within the faculty who are also lecturers. These academic advisors work alongside your Programme Directors to help you navigate your studentship seamlessly.
Academic advisement provides structured academic support for each student and you are strongly encouraged to respond to communications from your advisor and to reach out to him or her before making important academic decisions and/ or if you are facing challenges negatively impacting your academic performance and require guidance.
Please refer to your Student Handbook for more details on the roles of the FAAU and that of academic advisors and advisees.
All Year 1 students are expected to be in attendance at the annual Academic Advisement Workshop (October) where they are informed about academic policies that affect their studentship, provided with other tips to ensure success as a student and provide information regarding other services provided by the university. Additionally, at this workshop, students meet with their academic advisors and Programme Directors. If you are currently in Year 2 and were not in attendance at the workshop in your first year, it would be imperative for you to also be in attendance.
If you are in Years 1 or 2, your academic advisors are listed below. Please refer to the person assigned to your course of study.
