Language Technology and Research Centre
LTRC Overview: The Language Teaching and Research Centre (LTRC), located in room 8A-12 (opposite 8A-4W) in the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies is responsible for language teaching and academic literacy at UTech, Jamaica. To this end, the Centre delivers Academic Writing and Foreign Language modules to all Faculties and Colleges across the university in addition to providing personalised attention for clients who may require specialised assistance in Academic Writing or Spanish. Additionally, workshops and short courses are offered to UTech, Jamaica staff, students and the wider public. Students, regardless of their discipline, are encouraged to take advantage of the facilities and services of the Centre, which is equipped with computers, resource texts and software for consultation. The Centre is also directly responsible for the English Language Proficiency Test, which is a pre-requisite for some students entering the University, as well as the DELE (Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language) examinations offered on behalf o the Cervantes Institute in Spain.
