Mrs. Paulette Spencer- Smith, Director of Corporate Services, NCDA indicated that the goal of the present campaign project is “to improve ganja literacy among the Jamaican population, and to strengthen our capacity to make good choices about ganja use.” She explained that the Good Ganja Sense campaign utilizes unified messages through various media platforms including school and community engagement components. Miss Marilyn Facey, Lecturer, Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies in providing further information on the objectives and components of the media campaign, noted that the project was complementary to the extensive research into ganja undertaken by the University. She shared that the campaign includes establishment of a website; jingles; contests and competitions; electronic and social media messaging; bus panel advertisements, billboards, radio and television ads. Miss Faith Graham, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Cannabis Licensing Authority, in her presentation noted that the agency, as a major stakeholder in the industry, will provide technical support for the campaign, contributing up-to-date Bureau of Standards information, and assistance with successful application for licenses for ganja cultivation. The Good Ganja Sense Forum also included a presentation by Dr. Neville Ballin, Consultant, NCDA who shared comprehensive case studies on the therapeutic use of ganja in pain management and other conditions, including epilepsy, in his practice. NCDA Launches “Good Ganja Sense” Media Campaign Technology Innovation Centre (TIC) Launches New Website The University and the Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ) through its Jamaica Venture Capital Programme (JVCP) for University Incubators has funded the development of a new website that will enable the Technology Innovation Centre to have a stronger market presence in the Jamaican Entrepreneurship ecosystem which includes UTech, Jamaica faculty, staff and students.
