Voices Magazine-Vol4-Issue
VOICES Bi-Monthly Magazine of the University of Technology, Jamaica | January – April 2021 12 As we transition into a digital first learning environment, students are now exposed to additional stressors that can reduce the minimum comfort level necessary for academic success. As the Vice President, Student Services my intention is to diversify the grant offerings for students and ensure that students are empowered to take advantage of all benefits that are included in our fee payments; while encouraging greater inclusion and reducing insecurities. In my election campaign I declared that I would have been “More than the Ordinary Secretary” for the Students’ Union Council. This post is one that I hold in high esteem and truly intend to revolutionize the preconceived limitation that a secretary only does the minutes and files the reports. My vision for this portfolio is to be actively involved in the representation of students as an Executive member performing my constitutional roles, whilst creating initiatives that help all students in a profound and holistic way. I anticipate a great tenure, with an opportunity to grow and contribute to growth. STUDENT VOICES - Meet the New Students’ Union Executive Council I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and represent the students of this noble institution, and by extent, represent the students’ voices. As Vice President, Public Relations, my duty involves the implementation and maintenance of strategies that will enhance brand UTech, Jamaica Students’ Union. My plan entails this core commission of brand building, as well as a plan of action to strengthen all channels of communication to keep students aware and informed. Additionally, I will be seeking opportunities that will propel our students on national platforms, which will fulfill the purpose of amplifying the voice of the Students’ Union on national issues. In essence, my plan is to intensify the light for our Knights.
