Voices Magazine-Vol4-Issue

11 January – April 2021 | VOICES Bi-Monthly Magazine of the University of Technology, Jamaica My plans for this tenure as President will be dedicated to the Council’s theme for the year “Rebuilding bonds, Inspiring M.O.R.E”. As a Council, I believe it is our duty to ensure that our constituents are provided with prestige representation where they are able to see the impact we make here at UTech, Jamaica as well as on a national level. Hence, it is important to rebuild and improve the relationships we have with our fellow Knights. The latter part of the theme “Inspiring M.O.R.E” aims to Mold our current and future leaders for Opportunities, Responsibility and Evolution through inspiration. As Vince Lombardi said “Leaders are made, they are not born”. The aim will always be to produce a legacy that accentuates the council while enhancing the UTech, Jamaica brand. Thank you Knights for electing me to be your Vice President, Finance for the Academic Year 2021/22. It is my hope to serve and represent the students of UTech, Jamaica through additional representation and advocacy regarding issues that affect us as students. I also aim to ensure the effective management of the Students’ Union’s finances with the intention of providing benefits alongside my fellow council members for students in the way we need it most. I believe that allowing for maintenance of our high student reach, or increasing that number is a plus for this portfolio. I look forward to serving you. Meet the New Students’ Union Executive Council Meet the New Students’ Union Executive Council, elected to serve for the Academic Year 2021/22, who shared with us their leadership plans. My main goal is to represent the youths of UTech, Jamaica to the best of my ability by collaborating with the University Administration and improving communication and awareness within the student population. Transparency is key in a time where our students rely heavily on networking by whatever means, as we navigate through an online modality due to COVID-19. My plan includes hosting engaging initiatives and campaigns throughout my tenure to support this goal.
