O n February 10, 2020, the Faculty of Law hosted a guest lecture on the topic An Introduction to the United States Legal System from 30,000 Feet. The lecture was delivered by Professor Erin O’Hara O’Connor, Dean, Florida State University College of Law, USA, at the UTech, Jamaica Papine Campus. In her presentation, Professor O’Hara O’Connor explained the concept of Federalism and divided government in USA and highlighted the Limits on State Power and the Incorporation of the Bill of Rights via the 14th Amendment. During her lecture, she also introduced the different types of remedies under common law, namely, equitable remedies and legal remedies. In concluding, she gave a brief introduction to the LL.M programme offered by the Florida State University College of Law and invited Faculty of Law UTech, Jamaica for further collaboration in the near future.
