VOICES Bi-Monthly Magazine of the University of Technology, Jamaica | January – April 2020 12 “This scholarship means everything to me because I am actually from Dominica, and as you know when we pay our school fees, it’s in US Dollars. This will help with my food and my living expenses, because my family is not able to sustain all those costs on their own. When I got the email I was so happy because I got the scholarship last year, as well, and it assisted me greatly. When I heard about it I said I’m going to work very hard towards it so that I can be on the list again.” Christelle Laville Bachelor of Science in Economics, College of Business and Management In a vox pop at the 60 th Anniversary Presentation Ceremony held on Thursday, January 30, 2020, awardees were asked, “What does this 60 th Anniversary Scholarship mean to you and how will it help you advance your studies?” Here are their responses. “I feel really elated. I will definitely be putting the scholarship towards my tuition.” Dona Barrett-Brown Bachelor of Science in Public Health Nursing, Joint Colleges of Medicine, Oral Health and Veterinary Sciences STUDENT VOICES “I’m very proud of myself.
