11 January – April 2020 | VOICES Bi-Monthly Magazine of the University of Technology, Jamaica O n February 6, 2020, the University of Technology, Jamaica and the Belize City Council, Belize signed a Memorandum of Understanding in a ceremony held at the UTech Ja. Papine Campus. The new partnership is intended to facilitate the development of track and field, football, basketball and volleyball in the Central American country. The partnership was developed and advanced through the Caribbean School of Sport Sciences, Faculty of Science and Sport in collaboration members of the Council of Belize City. Under the terms of the agreement, UTech, Jamaica will provide short term accredited courses for Belizean officials, which will provide the necessary training and certification to host sports championships and tournaments. Dr. Kamilah Hylton, Dean, FOSS, indicated that the most immediate activity to be undertaken is the establishment of a technical sport certification course similar to development programmes offered by UTech, Jamaica to the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF).
