7 April - June 2019 | VOICES Bi-Monthly Magazine of the University of Technology, Jamaica P rofessor Stephen Vasciannie, President, University of Technology, Jamaica presents Dr. Winsome Russell, Associate Vice President, Academic Management, UTech, Jamaica with a copy of the Institutional Accreditation Certificate presented to the University of Technology, Jamaica by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) dated with effect from February 2018 for a period of 7 years. Prof. Vasciannie presented the Institutional Accreditation Certificate to Deans and other academic and administrative managers at a special Institutional Accreditation Appreciation Ceremony for all staff held at the University’s Papine Campus on June 7, 2019. UCJ Programmatic Accreditation for Graduate Programmes in FELS The University of Technology, Jamaica has been granted programmatic accreditation by The University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) for two more of its academic programmes in the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies (FELS). These programmes are the Master of Science in Workforce Training and Education and the Post-Graduate Diploma in Education which was re- accredited. The accreditation of the Master of Science in Workforce Training and Education is for a period of four years from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2018. The accreditation of the Post-Graduate Diploma in Education is for a period of five years from August 1, 2013 to July 31, 2018. In the letter from The UCJ Chairman, Dr. Carolyn Hayle, dated June 5, 2019, conveying its granting of accreditation, the Council indicated that “Given that the University of Technology, Jamaica has been granted institutional accreditation, there is no requirement for renewal of programme accreditation.” President, Professor Stephen Vasciannie (centre) and members of the University’s leadership team pose with copies of the Institutional Accreditation Certificate. University President, Professor Stephen Vasciannie on, June 7, 2019 hosted a special Institutional Accreditation Appreciation Ceremony at the Alfred Sangster Auditorium to express gratitude to all members of the University community for the collective effort to bring home the Institutional Accreditation award.All members of staff were presented with an Institutional Accreditation commemorative mug.
