T he University of Technology, Jamaica has been granted programmatic accreditation by The University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) for more of its academic programmes. Executive Director of the UCJ, Mrs Althea Heron, formally conveyed the Council’s decision to grant accreditation to four additional programmes in a letter to President, Professor Stephen Vasciannie. These programmes are the Master of Science in Built Environment, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management and the Bachelor of Science in Food Service Management. Professor Vasciannie presented the letters of accreditation to respective Deans, Heads of Schools and senior leadership at the University in a special ceremony held at the Papine Campus on December 5, 2018. The President expressed gratitude to the leadership and all persons within the respective Colleges and Faculties for their hard work and commitment to the accreditation application process, as well as to the considerable effort by the Office of Quality Assurance and other members of the wider University community. T he University Council of Jamaica (the UCJ) has granted Equivalency Status to the law degrees offered by the University of Technology, Jamaica in the period 2011 to 2015. Law degrees granted in this period therefore have the status equivalent to accredited degrees. University President Professor StephenVasciannie,inwelcoming the achievement, said that “his is a happy development for the University and especially for the law graduates within the period specified. It also represents hard work by various members of the Law Faculty, the Quality Assurance unit and other University representatives in putting together our application to the UCJ. Congratulations are in order.”
