VOICES Bi-Monthly Magazine of the University of Technology, Jamaica | August 2018 18 T he University of Technology, Jamaica has partnered with the None in Three (Ni3) Research Centre at the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom for research and the development of prosocial computer games for the prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) among children and young people. On Wednesday, June 27, 2018, UTech, Jamaica welcomed Professor Adele Jones, Founding Director and Grant-Holder, None in Three (Ni3), Research Centre and Professor of Social Work, University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom for a three-day visit to the University. During her visit Professor Jones met with UTech, Jamaica officers including Dr. Christine Fray-Aiken, Associate Professor, College of Health Sciences who is Jamaica’s Country Director for the Ni3 Project. None in 3 is a new global research centre with satellite offices conducting projects in China, India, Jamaica and Uganda. Established in October 2017 through a UK government grant of £4.3 million, Ni3 creates and researches the impact of serious gaming interventions (prosocial computer games) in changing attitudes among children and young people that fuel the social and cultural drivers of Gender-Based Violence (GBV). None in Three derives its name from the global statistics that one in three women or girls will be subject to sexual violence in their lifetime. Ni3 is dedicated to changing this reality. The University of Technology, Jamaica is an international partner on the Project and has signed a four-year contract with the None in Three (Ni3) Research Centre to implement the project in Jamaica.
