25 April 2018 | VOICES Bi-Monthly Magazine of the University of Technology, Jamaica T he Faculty of The Built Environment hosted its 19th annual Awards Ceremony on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Pollyanna Caterers and Banqueters restaurant, St. Andrew. Awards were presented to outstanding students for the Academic Year 2016/2017 from its two schools – Caribbean School of Architecture and the School of Building and Land Management - who have excelled in academics, community service, technology, research and sports. Special recognition awards were also presented to industry partners who have made significant contribution to the development of the Faculty. Guest speaker, Reverend Wayan Wellington, Pastor, New Testament Church of God charged the students to be purposeful in their daily lives; to remain true to their values and “to find their true purpose in life.” T he Faculty of Science and Sport (FOSS) hosted its annual Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) Mathematics workshop for high school students on April 12, 2018 at the Papine Campus. Approximately 300 sixth form students from across Jamaica participated in the highly welcomed workshop designed to assist the students with preparation for their CAPE Unit 1 and CAPE Unit 2 Mathematics examinations. The annual CAPE Mathematics workshop forms part of the Faculty’s community service outreach and its continuing thrust to promote a culture of love for Mathematics. Faculty of The Built Environment Awards Excellence FOSS Hosts CAPE Mathematics Workshop Dr. Garfield Young, Dean, Faculty of The Built Environment presents the Jentech Award to Miss Natasha Wright, Students of the Year, School of Building and Land Management and Dean’s List Awardee. Mr. Jadayne Smith, Student of the Year, Caribbean School of Architecture is presented with the E. Nadine Isaacs Architect Ltd. award by Mrs. Audrey Nembhard, of the Philip and Christine Family Gore Foundation.
