21 April 2018 | VOICES Bi-Monthly Magazine of the University of Technology, Jamaica Faculty of Law Celebrates Student Excellence T he Faculty of Law on April 4, 2018 honoured its year 1 to 3 students for excellence achieved in the 2017/2018 Academic Year, at its annual Awards Ceremony held at the Terra Nova Al-Suite Hotel. Acting Dean, Mrs. Marcia Robinson congratulated the students who have achieved outstanding performance in the last year and highlighted the participation of Faculty of Law students in two 2018 competitions – the Philip C Jessup International Moot Court Competition and the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ). “Although we did not win, we did extremely well, she said,” and thanked lecturers Mrs Alicia Dixon Stone and Mrs Takeese Gilpin Allen for ably assisting students to prepare for the competitions. Guest speaker was Mr Terrence Williams, Commissioner, Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) . He congratulated the law students on their achievements and encouraged them to pursue continuous learning. “The law is a profession of learning,” he emphasise, adding that, “don’t just concern yourself with what is coming on exam papers…you are constantly required to improve your knowledge,” he said.
