VOICES Bi-Monthly Magazine of the University of Technology, Jamaica | April 2018 14 T he Technology Innovation Centre (TIC), business incubator – a special unit of the Joan Duncan School of Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Leadership (JDSEEL) in the College of Business and Management, (COBAM), on March 23, 2018 hosted the annual Client Graduation and Awards Ceremony to celebrate the achievement of outstanding entrepreneurs whose businesses are incubated at the Centre at the Papine Campus. His Excellency Niu Qingbao in his remarks congratulated the recipients on their selection, and expressed confidence that they all represent Jamaica’s “bright future.” Guest speaker, Dr. the Honourable Andrew Wheatley, MP, Minister of Science, Energy and Technology commended the University for its role in supporting the development of entrepreneurship in Jamaica. The Minister noted that, “as we move forward as a country we will have to invest more in science, technology and innovation to transform our businesses and country to a new level of competitiveness and growth.” The TIC recognised the achievements of current clients who were outstanding in their respective fields during this year, through the presentation of awards in nine different categories: • Top Residential Client- Think Brite Solutions Limited and Dirty Hands Design • Top Platinum Client - Infoserv Learning Management Systems Limited • Top Anchor Client, Naivak Electronics • Top Premium Client, Top Virtual Client, CTech Solutions • Top Student Client - Evo-Innovation • The Trailblazer Award - Dirty Hand Designs and EduFocal Limited • The Innovator Award - It’s Pixel Perfect • Top Client of the Year 2017- Edufocal Limited. Graduate client, Quality Works Consulting Group was also recognised as the only company to graduate from the incubator this year having been at the TIC business incubator for two years.
