9 February 2018 | VOICES Bi-Monthly Magazine of the University of Technology, Jamaica O n Thursday, November 30, 2017, Her Excellency Laurie Peters, the Canadian High Commissioner to Jamaica, paid a courtesy call on University President, Professor Stephen Vasciannie, CD at the Papine Campus. High Commissioner Peters was accompanied on the courtesy call by Mr Richard York, Trade Director at the Canadian High Commission. In their meeting, High Commissioner Peters, Mr York and Professor Vasciannie a variety of issues, but concentrated primarily on partnership opportunities between the University of Technology, Jamaica, on the one hand, and the Canadian Government and Canadian Universities, on the other. General comments were also shared on the current links between the University and Canadian institutions, and on points of emphasis in Canadian international programmes of assistance. T he University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) presented accreditation certificates for UTech, Jamaica Engineering Programmes during a workshop for institutions hosted by The UCJ on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Knutsford Court Hotel. At the microphone announcing the presentations is Dr Dotlyn Minott, Director, Accreditation, The UCJ. Professor Brendan Bain (right), Deputy Chairman, The University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) presents Certificates of Accreditation for the University of Technology, Jamaica’s Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Engineering and the Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering courses of study to Professor Stephen Vasciannie, President, University of Technology, Jamaica and Professor Nilza Aples, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Computing, University of Technology, Jamaica. The accreditation is for the four year period commencing July 1, 2015.
