17 February 2018 | VOICES Bi-Monthly Magazine of the University of Technology, Jamaica “I don’t like how the seats are placed. They are uncomfortable and there isn’t enough leg room. Another thing is that the stairs are built too high apart, so when you step down or you are stepping up, you have to be putting a lot of effort into doing so; when persons are stepping down they could even fall by doing so. But other than that the building, I think, is great.” Name: Princess Bartley Course of study: Bachelor of Business Administration College/Faculty: College of Business and Management “The new shared facility building is very attractive, the most attractive place on the UTech campus. AC is working properly, adequate lighting and so forth. However, the seating is very poor because it’s very uncomfortable and flips easily. The seats do not easily compensate for heavier persons. Other than that it’s a very attractive site as I said before.” Name: Sanjay Brown Course of study: Bachelor of Science in Public Health College/Faculty: Joint Colleges of Medicine, Oral Health & Veterinary Sciences STUDENT VOICES “My impression of the shared facilities building has been kind of mixed because when I had class there, some of the rooms did not have working AC, but then afterwards they did and its really clean and I like the brightness of the classroom.” Name: Kimberley Whyte Course of Study: Bachelor of Science in Computing College/Faculty: Faculty of Engineering and Computing “It did not start out so well for me. I do think that this is a great step in achieving Institutional Accreditation. The scenery is beautiful. The only thing that is missing is a few palm trees in the courtyard but other than that, I would say, compared to our neighbours it is a step in the right direction for UTech.” Name: Dennis Palmer Course of Study: Bachelor of Laws College/Faculty: Faculty of Law *Editor’s Note: Wi-Fi has been installed at the Shared Facilities Building since January 2018.
