VOICES Bi-Monthly Magazine of the University of Technology, Jamaica | February 2018 12 T he university of Technology, Jamaica in further recognition of academic excellence by its three outstanding graduates who earned the President’s Pin at the Graduation Ceremony held on November 4, 2017 has presented the high achievers with the accompanying cash awards of $25,000 each. The cheques were presented by Professor Stephen Vasciannie, CD, President, at a special presentation held at the Papine Campus on December 20, 2017. The President’s Honour Roll award and President’s Pin is awarded each year to graduates who have attained the criteria of a Grade ‘A’ and GPA of 3.75 to 4.00 in the last Academic Year. In addition, students must be in general good standing with the University. Pictured top right, Professor Vasciannie makes cheque presentations to Mrs Rhona Wong-Reid who graduated from the School of Public Health and Health Technology with the Bachelor of Science in Public Health Nursing with a GPA of 3.83 and below, Miss Chanelle Pearson, graduate of the School of Computing and Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering and Computing who earned the Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Sciences with a GPA of 3:75. Mrs. Wong-Reid is currently employed as a Public Health Nurse at the Kingston and St. Andrew Health Department and Miss Pearson is employed as a Junior Software Developer with the Shipping Association of Jamaica (Advantum). The third President’s Pin recipient, Mr Shervain Barrett, Faculty of Engineering and Computing, who was awarded the Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science with a GPA 3.76, was unable to attend the cheque presentation ceremony.
