T he International Students Office, Division of Student Services on Thursday, September 1, 2017 hosted the annual special welcome for international students. The welcome reception is held at the commencement of each academic year to formally welcome new and returning international students to UTech, Jamaica. The Reception held at the SHTM Hotel, Papine campus provided the students with the opportunity to meet and interact with the President, Deputy President, University Registrar, Deans, other academic and administrative managers and staff, and the Students’ Union President and executive. President, Professor Stephen Vasciannie in his engaging talk with the students, provided an overview of the status of a number of issues and developments at the University including accreditation, Government funding and efforts being made towards parity for UTech, Ja students entering the Norman Manley Law School. Special Welcome for International Students It was a fun-filled evening for international students as they participated in (top from left) taking pictures with the cut-out board featuring the countries making up the University of Technology, Jamaica International Students Association (UTISA), a dance off and gift basket presentations for correctly answering impromptu questions presented by Mrs Janice Sinclair-Morgan, International Students Coordinator. The international student body comprises of nationals from over 25 countries - Anguilla, Antigua, Barbados, Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, China, Cayman Islands, Ghana, Netherlands, Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Haiti, Montserrat, Nigeria, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks & Caicos Islands, United Kingdom and the USA.
