Jacquiann T. Lawton Arch. Jacquiann Lawton has been appointed as Head of School, Caribbean School of Architecture in the Faculty of the Built Environment for one term, September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2020. Arch. Lawton is widely respected for her professional standing as an architect and her experience in the School as Programme Director for the Master of Architecture Programme (2009 – 2013), and Graduate Studies and Research Co-ordinator (2015 – 2016). Her professional affiliations include her appointment by the Prime Minister of Jamaica to the Architects Registration Board of Jamaica, and serving as a CDM Policy Committee member of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management. Arch. Lawton’s contribution to civic life includes her involvement with the Royal Life Saving Society of Jamaica, and as Founding Member of the Jamaica Surfing Association. Arch. Lawton is the holder of a Master of Science in Architecture Pedagogy, University of Florida, Gainesville, Bachelor of Architecture (Professional Degree), The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, USA, and is a Project Management Practitioner, ASAPM. She is an overseas member of the Trinidad & Tobago Institute of Architects. Head of School, School of Building and Land Management Mr. Laurence Neufville Mr. Laurence Neufville, Senior Lecturer, was re-appointed as the Head of School, School of Building and Land Management in the Faculty of the Built Environment, for a second term, September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2020. During Mr. Neufville’ s first term as Head of School, his strong leadership and organizational skills have led to the securing of two major partnerships with external entities that could potentially increase third stream income and increase the visibility of the School and its work. He has also rationalized modules to create efficiencies in staffing and scheduling. Mr. Neufville is a member of, or is otherwise involved in, a number of professional organizations and associations relating to the disciplines in the School, e.g. Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), the International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE), and the Jamaica Association of Safety Professionals (JASP). His other contributions to civic life include his Chairmanship of the Titchfield High School. He is also a Past President of the Jamaica Geographical Society and is a Founding Member of the Jamaica Association of Explosive Engineering Professionals. A graduate of the Manchester Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom, Mr. Neufville is the holder of a Master of Science Degree in GIS and Management. He is also the holder of a Professional Masters in Earth Observation & Environmental Geo Sciences from the International Institute for Aerospace Survey & Earth Sciences (ITC) in the Netherlands, and a B.Sc. In Geology & Geography from the University of the West Indies, Mona. The following appointments were made by the University Appointments and Promotions Committee (UAPC) at its meetings held on June 16 th and 30 th 2017 respectively and noted by the Council at its meetings held on June 2 and July 19, 2017 respectively.
