Otherwise, the module will be treated normally and the final result will affect the GPA. 6 . C L A S S E S O F A C A D E M I C A WA R D S To obtain an award, all modules satisfying the conditions stipulated in the course of study must have been passed. The regulations gov- erning classes of academic awards will apply to all students, whether new or returning, and will be implemented as follows: 6 . 1 . B A C H E L O R ’ S D E G R E E S The cumulative GPA of Levels 2 to 4 modules will determine the class of award, beginning with students entering a new course of study in AY 2018/19. Post-diploma/Articulated Students: The GPA of all post-diploma modules will determine the class of award, irrespective of whether some are Lower Level modules. 6 . 1 . 1 F I R S T C L A S S ( H O N O U R S ) a. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.56. b. The Course of Study must be completed within the maximum timeframe. c. Not satisfying Condition (b) will result in the award of a lower class degree irrespec- tive of the final GPA achieved. d. All modules must be passed at the first sitting. The President’s Pin will be awarded to First Class (Honours) students who achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.80 and above. 6.1.2 Second Class (Upper) Honours a. A minimum accumulative GPA of 3.20. b The Course of Study must be completed within the maximum timeframe. 6 . 1 . 3 S E C O N D C L A S S ( L O W E R ) H O N O U R S a. A minimum accumulative GPA of 2.86. b. The Course of Study must be completed within the maximum timeframe. 6 . 1 . 4 P A S S a. A minimum accumulative GPA of 2.00 b.
