I t is with a tremendous sense of joy that I welcome you at this the beginning of your academic journey here at the University of Technology, Jamaica. Undoubtedly, it will be a monumental one, but I note with equal conviction that you have chosen the very best route on which to take that journey – UTech, Jamaica – the “Birthplace of Greatness”. The University’s recent achievement of attaining Institutional Accreditation from the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) is a powerful confirmation of the strength and excellence of the insti- tution’s programme offerings. It highlights the fact that our pro- grammes are of the highest standards. You can be assured that when you pursue your studies at UTech, Jamaica you will be pursuing not only excellence but greatness. The administration and staff of UTech, Jamaica, are seriously committed to supporting you along this amazing journey. We fully understand that as you proceed along the way, it may not always be easy going, but we are here for you to provide guidance, encouragement and advise throughout your tenure. My advice to you now at the start of your journey is for you to begin with the end in mind. Never lose sight of the reason you are here. Fix your mind on the incredible joy that awaits you at the end. Let this goal be an ever present beacon to take you all the way through to the end. This University is far more than a degree granting institution.
