Major General Antony Anderson, CD, has had a distinguished 34-year military career in the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) and is a leading security expert in the Anglophone Caribbean. He served as Commissioner of Police of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) from March 2018 to March 2024, where his leadership resulted in the transformation and professionalization of the Force. Notably, under his command, major crimes reached their lowest levels in over 20 years, and the JCF became a regional leader in technological innovation, implementing advanced tools like facial recognition systems, license plate readers, and drones. His tenure also saw the JCF achieve ISO 9001 certification, the first in the region, significantly improving service delivery. Major General Anderson has held several senior leadership roles, including Chief of Defence Staff of the JDF, Commanding Officer of the JDF Air Wing and the 1 Engineer Regiment, and Jamaica’s first National Security Advisor. In September 2024, he was appointed by the Prime Minister to head the Disaster Risk Management Review Committee. He has also served on various boards, including the Jamaica Fire Brigade and Heart Trust/NTA, and as Chairman of the Firearm Licensing Authority. An alumnus of the College of Arts, Science and Technology (CAST), now University of Technology, Jamaica, Major General Anderson holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a Master's degree in Defence Administration from Cranfield University, UK.
