Driving Development Dr. Damith Wickramanayake, FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND COMPUTING University of Technology, Jamaica ACADEMIC STAFF PROMOTIONS TO THE RANK OF PROFESSOR Professor Damith Wickramanayake has been lecturing at the tertiary level for over 30 years with full time service to the University of Technology, Jamaica in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer for over Twenty (20) years. Prof. Wickramanayake holds a Doctor of Education from Nova Southeastern University, USA, a Master of Science Degree in Computer Science from the University of Bradford, UK and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (Computing) from the UWI/Mico, Jamaica and a Certificate in Marketing & Sales from the University of West Indies, Jamaica. He was the Head of Department and Lecturer at the Mico University 's Computer Department. Prof. Wickramanayake briefly served as Head of School for the School of Computing in 2015. During his career, he has supervised several students at the undergraduate and graduate levels both locally and internationally. Prof. Wickramanayake has served as Senior Consultant in IT: Peat Marwick & Partners: Jamaica, Senior Consultant, at Faculty of Engineering at South Eastern University, Sri Lanka, Senior Consultant, CARICOM: Development of Regional Strategic & Action Plan ICT Services for CARI FORUM States, Consultant at Eastern University of Sri Lanka (where he trained academic staff on Moodie, and also setup the Moodie sever for the university) and Consultant at Mutual Security Bank, Jamaica. In 2014, he served his sabbatical leave at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Sri Lanoka where he played a lead role in the development of the Faculty of Computing. Also Prof Wickramanayake did his first sabbatical in his alma matter, University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka, in the faculty of Engineering. Prof. Wickramanayake is the author of a book chapter, presented at several conferences and has published extensively in high-ranking journals. In 2012, Prof. Wickramanayake was appointed to serve as member of the Scientific and Academic Publishing Co: for the International Journal of Energy Engineering, International Journal of Information Sciences International Journal of Education since and also currently serves as a Reviewer. In 2016, he served as a Reviewer for the Caribbean Educational Research Journal in the School of Education at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. He has chaired several international research conferences in his research field of interest. His research interests include Big Data, Relation Databases, NoSQL, Cloud Computing, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Super-capacitors for Electric Vehicles, and Blockchain.
