University of Technology, Jamaica 79 Mrs. Genefa Hibbert Chief Operations and Projects Officer Operations and Projects Division • Facilities Management Department (FMD) • Planning Unit • Project Management Unit (PMU) • Safety and Security Department (SSD) The Operations and Projects Office has over-arching responsibility for various support services of the University. These services include maintenance of buildings, equipment and infrastructure, physical planning, design, development and construction of new facilities, retrofitting of existing facilities, safety and security of all UTech, Ja, property and personnel, operation and maintenance of the University’s fleet of motor vehicles and disaster management and recovery. Modification and Repairs of Printery Modification and repairs of the Printery was completed. Project scope of works entailed the demolition of interior areas to the Unit, alterations to the general layout of the spaces, reconstruction of drywall partitions, renovation of floor finishes using porcelain tiles, electrical and mechanical installation of AC Units and additional exhaust ventilation system. UTech/GoJ Enhancement Project The installation of a 25,000BTU tank water heater to support the functions of the SHTM teaching facility hotel was completed. This unit will facilitate provision of hot water for the guest rooms, specialized kitchens and laundry. Specialised equipment has been procured and installed in the a-la-carte kitchen of the SHTM teaching facility. These include cold rooms, stoves, dishwashers and other industry related items. This will foster an enhanced environment for students to gain hands-on culinary experience. Safety and Security Improvements were made to the University’s Electronic Security Systems as follows: y Installation of twelve (12) Access Controls for the Shared Facilities Building y Installation of twenty (20) cameras for the Calvin Mckain Library A-la-Carte Industrial Kitchen Equipment
