University of Technology, Jamaica 75 Dr. Garfield Young Dean • School of Building and Land Management • Caribbean School of Architecture Faculty of The Built Environment New Course of Study The MPHil/Phd in the Built Environment was launched in November 2019 with the first Cohort of eight students beginning in September 2019. Student Achievements Rose Somie, Caribbean School of Architecture student was the recipient of the inaugural Jamaica USA Chamber of Commerce Scholarship named in honour of distinguished international Jamaican Architect, Dr. Gordon Gill. The Pan Jam Scholarships were awarded to CSA MArch Students Lisa Gaye Chong Baccus, Richard Thompson, Haverica Gooden, Kerisha Witter, Dominic Anderson and Jason Pinnock. Local and International Collaborations Completion of Jamaica Safe Schools Project FOBE, in collaboration with FENC, successfully completed the Jamaica Safe Schools Project (JSSP) and submitted all corresponding reports. The submission has developed an infrastructural data base for all public schools in Jamaica. The report is being used by the government to guide decisions about disaster risk management in public schools. The project was funded by the World Bank in the amount of US$210,000. Scholarship award presented to Rose Somie by Dean Young. Vice Dean Dr. Elizabeth Pigou-Dennis and CSA Lecturer Ms. Denice Ramharrack share in the moment. Dr Garfield Young and Prof. Nilza Aples make final JSSP presentation to the World Bank Team and the Ministry of Education.
