University of Technology, Jamaica 70 was Mrs. Alicia Dixon Stone, Programme Director in the Faculty of Law. The Boot Camp was held at the Montego Bay Campus over two weekends, June 1-2, and June 8-9, 2019 and at the Papine Campus from June 15, -16 and June 22-23, 2019. The classes were from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. each day. Modules taught during the boot Camp covered the areas of Contract Law, Law of Tort, Property Law, Criminal Law and Equity and Trust. Feedback from the participants indicated that the Boot Camp was successful and this was evident as the Faculty saw the highest number of alumni accepted for entry to the Norman Manley Law School in a number of years. Land Law Expo The Students of the Western Campus, Real Property 1 class, and Lecturer, Tanya Golaub, hosted a “Land Law Expo Booth 2019” in October 2019. The expo provided information on three main areas of Land Law. An invitation to participate in the Expo was extended to the high schools and community colleges in and around Montego Bay. Outreach During Law Week, February 9- 15, 2020, students of the Faculty, Western Campus, visited the Granville Children’s Home and gave of their time interacting with the children. Ms. Tanya Golaub, Lecturer, Western Campus initiated the inaugural “Learn to Read” charity for students of the Western Campus in October 2019. The programme aims to adopt a school in need and to build a small library from the donation of books. Contacts will be made with the Mayor of Montego Bay and local Representatives to get further support for the book drive. Members of the alumni and present students will be contributing of their time to read to students in Primary Schools and Orphanages where positive role models and support is needed.
