Attorney General Marlene Malahoo Forte, MP St. James West Central who presented on “Media and Elections;” Steffon Campbell, Lecturer and Coordinator, CARIMAC Western Jamaica who spoke on the topic “Media Education and Democracy” and Brian Brown, Executive Producer LivewireACT who discussed “Journalism in Times of Disinformation”. Short Film Competition Kemanie Boothe, BA CAT student was the recipient of a sectional prize for Best Cinematography for his film “It Lives and It Breathes” at the European Union Short Film Competition. The competition, launched in September 2019, aimed at providing an avenue for young and amateur Jamaican filmmakers, 18-25, to speak on environmental issues as well as showcase their talents. The contestants benefitted from a filmmaking workshop hosted by experts from Europe and Jamaica, with sectional winners also receiving one-year free memberships from the Jamaica Film and Television Association. The film was screened at a special function held on Thursday, February 13, 2020. Ambassador Malgorzata Wasilewska, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Jamaica, made a special presentation on priorities of and opportunities being offered by the EU. Staff Scholarship y Ms. Nadine McLeod was a recipient of a grant under the Baden-Wurttemberg-Stipendum, a scholarship programme which seeks to promote international exchange between German and international students. The stipend will allow her to spend June 1 to July 31, 2020 as an academic visitor to the Albert Ludwigs Universität in Freiburg, Germany. This opportunity, which is aligned to her studies as a PhD candidate in media and language. y Dr Hope Mayne, recipient of the Canada CARICOM Faculty Leadership Exchange Programme was selected to visit Brock University September 15 to October 5, 2019 as visiting International Scholar. International Day The annual International Day event was held on November 21, 2019. The day was a success and had over 400 students from a number of schools across the island. Remarks were delivered by Ambassadors to Jamaica from Brazil Germany and France.
