University of Technology, Jamaica 61 Visiting Professors/Guest Lecturers/External Examiners The Joint Colleges continued to benefit from the services of visiting professors, international adjunct faculty, external examiners and guest lecturers who have shared their expertise and contributed to the development of our courses of study. This has assisted in the development of competent graduates and ensures the students receive high quality public health and dental education and quality assurance. White Coat and Hooding Ceremonies The College of Oral Health Sciences hosted its 8th Annual White Coat Ceremony on November 5, 2019 in the Alfred Sangster Auditorium, Papine Campus. Fifty students in the third year of the Doctor of Medical Dentistry course of study and the second year of the Dental Hygiene course of study received their “White Coats” signaling their successful completion of the preclinical years of the course of study and transition to the clinical years. Keynote speaker was Dr. Steve Pearlman, Clinical Professor of Pediatric Dentistry, Boston University/ Goldman School of Dental Medicine who spoke on the theme, “Uplifting Overall Health through Oral Health”. On November 26, 2019, the College hosted its Annual Hooding Ceremony for the Doctor of Medical Dentistry Class of 2019 at the Shared Facilities, Papine Campus. June 2-6, 2019 Dr Denise Young-Brady, (International Guest Lecturer, USA) delivered lectures and clinical demonstration in Periodontic Dentistry to the DMD year 3 students. June 17-28, 2019 Dr Nauman Chatha, (Certified Endodontist & International Guest Lecturer, USA) delivered lectures and provide supervision of dental clinic in Endodontics to the DMD years 4 &5 students.
