Accredited by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) ANNUAL REPORT 2018-2019 University of Technology, Jamaica 94 Old Hope Road in Kingston and the Rose Hall Main Road (Elegant Corridor) in Montego Bay, St. James. Video Production Throughout the period the Marketing Unit produced seven (7) promotional videos for the University. These videos have been posted to the University’s YouTube channel. 60TH Anniversary Mural – Lobby A newmural depicting photographs of iconic features of the physical infrastructure of the University over the years, was installed at the entrance of the lobby of the Main Administration Building at the Papine Campus. The mural was unveiled at a special ceremony on December 14, 2018 hosted by the President, Professor Stephen Vasciannie. Among the sites highlighted on the mural are two of the national monuments on the Campus - The Ruins of the Silos and Lillian’s Restaurant; the School of Public Health and Health Technology (formerly British West Indies Public Health Training Station and West Indies School of Public Health) established in 1943 and the recently built School of Hospitality and TourismManagement Hotel. Advertising A total of one hundred and seventy-two (172) print advertisements were booked for the period, ninety- eight (98) of which were designed in the Marketing Unit. Electronic advertisements booked includes two (2) outside radio broadcasts, one hundred and ninety- five (195) 30-second radio spots and six hundred and thirty-six (636) TV spots. Online Advertising • Impressions (Reach) – eight million, eight hundred & thirty-eight thousand, one hundred and fifty-five (8,838,155) • Click Through (visitors to website) – Twenty-seven thousand, nine hundred & sixty-nine (27,969) Social Media Over the period there were increases in subscribers on all University social media platforms. These increases were Facebook – 6.5% (up from 16,730 to 17,924), Twitter – 3% (up from 5,074 to 5,294) and Instagram – 60% (up from 5,024 to 8,109). The University’s Facebook profile page has 12,182 followers. Internal Marketing The Unit continued its thrust of supporting internal brand building activities by engaging students and staff of the University. Among the initiatives supported was the annual Ms. UTech, Jamaica competition for which a bursary of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) was offered to the winner. Office of the Customer Service Advocate The Of f ice of the Cus tomer Ser v i ce Advocate (OCSA) continues to carry out its mandate of establishing and monitoring customer service standards for the University. Toward this end, the OCSA successfully established the University Call Centre in October 2018.
