Accredited by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) ANNUAL REPORT 2018-2019 University of Technology, Jamaica 9 Office of Teaching and Learning The O f f i ce of Teaching and Learning, established i n Augu s t 2017, provides oversight of core academic functions throughout the University pertaining to Curriculum, Co-operative Education, and Prior Learning. Curriculum • A new Curriculum Committee for Graduate and Undergraduate degrees was introduced. Policies were also revised to improve Course of Study Development and the Structure for Undergraduate degrees. Co-operative Education Approximately 650 students successfully completed the Co-operative Education programme during the reporting period. Prior Learning Assessment Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) recognizes the learning and knowledge that prospective students have obtained from work and life experience. The PLA Unit facilitates admission for applicants without the traditional matriculation requirements, and aids accelerated completion of undergraduate degrees through module exemptions. Twenty-nine (29) applicants matriculated into various undergraduate courses of study through the PLA route of entry. Six (6) of the ten (10) PLA applicants to graduate courses of study are currently enrolled into courses of study, such as the MBA and the MSc Dr Haldane Johnson Associate Vice President Programme Accreditation: Celebrating
