Downloads of the UTech, Jamaica Mobile App exceeded 4,000 for the reporting period. Campus Magazine VOICES, the bi-monthly Un i ve r s i t y news magazine continues to be a major tool in communicating with the University Community. The magazine highlights the University’s major achievements and deve l opment s in scholarship, research, outreach, the arts and in sport. Issues of the magazine are published on the University’s website and in limited print copy and distributed to students, staff, alumni, members of Council, institutional partners, national libraries, tertiary institution heads, Ministers of Government and other key stakeholders. University Website The UTech, Jamaicawebsitewas launched in 1999. The site was redesigned in 2003, 2008 and 2015 following a series of internal and external consultations. This effort included the implementation of a Content Management System powered by the Plone open source software. Plone facilitates the management of digital content on the website. It gives users the ability to create/update their content in a safe and structured way while ensuring that the proper approval processes are followed. The Corporate Communications Unit continues to coordinate content for the website through the established Website Content Management (CMS) whereby Content Owners and Content Writers from the respective areas are responsible for the creation, update and approval of website content. The Corporate Communications Unit maintained currency of news and events platforms on the Home Page of the Website. UTech, Jamaica Experts The UTech, Jamaica bank of experts’ database stood at 37 during the reporting period. Our experts continued to be highly utilized by media practitioners His Excellency, the Governor-General the Most Honourable Sir Patrick Allen, delivering the University of Technology, Jamaica 60th Anniversary Distinguished Public Lecture on the topic, “Promoting Excellence to Enhance Development,” to a capacity audience at the University’s Papine Campus on Thursday, July 12, 2018.
