BCAT Exhibition On, May 4, 2018, The Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies presented the Annual Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts and Technology final year students’ exhibition. The event was held under the theme “Media Education for Justice, Development and Social Change”. The day’s activities began with a panel discussion with presenters, Mr. Lloyd B. Smith, Western Mirror and Mr. Garwin Davis, JIS on topics “Safeguarding Press Freedom” and “The Avenues for Expression: Traditional and Social Media”. After a very engaging discussion, the audience viewed the exhibits. School of Business Administration Business Conference The School of Business Administration hosted a Business Conference on May 30, 2018. The theme for the conference was “Creating a Platform for Economic Growth and Prosperity”. The presenters at the conference included Programme Director, Mr. Kerwin Hamil; Mrs. Marlene Street Forrest, Managing Director, Jamaica Stock Exchange; Dr. Adrian Stokes, President, Scotia Jamaica Life Insurance; Mrs. Judith Ramlogan, CEO, Companies Office of Jamaica; Mr. Earl Stewart Jr., Director of Planning & Research and Mr. Keeble Downie, General Manager, Tax Administration of Jamaica. The event was held at the Iberostar Hotel, Rose Hall. School of Business Administration Students’ Business Seminar The final year, School of Business Administration students successfully hosted their annual Business Seminar on March 19, 2019. at Iberostar Rosehall Resort, Rosehall, St. James under the theme “Technology Innovation: The Key to Organizational Performance and Profitability”. Guest speakers included Mrs. Geneieve Harty, Branch Manager at Barita Investments; Mrs. Sheena Reid, AVP-Digital Transformation at Victoria Mutual Building Society and Dr. Marcia Forbes, Executive Chairperson and Co-Founder of Phase 3 Productions. The different majors, students’ groups also presented findings on research conducted in their area of specialization. The students donated $260,000 to the Pediatric Ward at the Cornwall Regional Hospital. Community Service Golf Tournament A group of thirteen students volunteered to work at the BMW Jamaica Classics PGA Tour held at Cinnamon Hill in Montego Bay. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience which afforded them the opportunity Seminar students and facilitators, Ms. Adian Miller and Ms. Sophia McIntosh
