Accredited by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) ANNUAL REPORT 2018-2019 University of Technology, Jamaica 54 • Caribbean School of Nursing • School of Allied Health and Wellness • School of Pharmacy Short course/module developed to be implemented in 2019: y Gerontology: “Theories and Concepts of care of older persons in a local, regional and global context” y Perinatal Mental Health module Collaborations/International Linkages y The College has maintained its franchised agreements with Excelsior Community College Nursing Department and the Sigma College of Nursing and Applied Sciences. y The Jamaica Livity project, funded by the National Health Fund at cost of 14 million dollars was launched in 2016 and concluded during the last reporting period. This project was aimed at providing estimates of both acute and usual food consumption patterns and consumption trends of the Jamaican population at the individual level. Caribbean School of Nursing (CSON) Striping Ceremony On March 8, 2019, approximately 200 nursing students proudly received their stripes and varying awards for academic achievement. The event was hosted at the St. John’s Methodist Church Hall under the theme “Nursing & Midwifery Students; Embracing the Sacrifices that Yield Success”. The keynote speaker was Pastor. Darren Murphy. Dr. Janet Campbell-Shelly Dean College of Health Sciences Student nurses receive their stripes.
