Accredited by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) ANNUAL REPORT 2018-2019 University of Technology, Jamaica 53 • The 3rd annual Law Division CAPE Workshop was held on May 21, 2018 at the Papine Campus. 39 students participated in the workshop. • The School’s 2017/2018 final year Bachelor of Business Administration students at the Western Campus donated three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to the Clifton Boys’ Home located in Westmoreland. The fund was donated to assist with the reconstruction of the Boys’ Home which was destroyed by fire on January 15, 2017. • The Economics Division conducted the annual Economics High School Workshop on November 29, 2018. Approximately 200 students from high schools across Jamaica attended the workshop. The workshop reinforced Microeconomics and Macroeconomics concepts aimed at improving the student’s analytical skills, performance and confidence in their class assessments, CXC and CAPE examinations. • The Marketing Seminar class continued to forge its longstanding relationship with the City of Refuge - Home for needy children, located in Content Gap. This year the Seminar group donated a microwave oven to the home and organized a fun day and Christmas treat for the children. They were hosted on the UTech, Jamaica Papine campus. • The Production and Operations Management Seminar group visited the National Children’s Home on February 23, 2019. The group donated household and personal items for the children. • The Accounting Seminar group visited Padmore Primary School, St. Andrew on March 9, 2019. The day’s activity entailed the painting of the school. They also had a children’s treat at the SOS Children’s Village, Stony Hill on March 10, 2019 where clothes and toiletries were distributed. • SHTM facilitated training for the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) Internship Programme during the summer period, 2018.
