Accredited by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) ANNUAL REPORT 2018-2019 University of Technology, Jamaica 48 Global Fuel Economy Initiative The Global Fuel Economy Initiative (GFEI), launched in early 2009, is a consortium formed by the United Nations Environment (UN Environment), the International Council on Clean Transport (ICCT), the Foundation for the Automobile and Society (FIA Foundation), the International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Transport Forum (ITF) and the California Davis University (UC Davis). The GFEI Project in Jamaica was launched in 2015 and is managed by the CSEII on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation and funded by UN Environment. The major project outputs include: • A Report on National auto fuel economy – trends and recommendations • A Caribbean Sub Regional Workshop Report and recommendations • A GFEI Database for 8 different years for Jamaica • An Air Quality Management Diagnostic Study Report • A Cost Benefit Analysis • Policy Recommendations for Jamaica • A National Action Plan The project culminated in a major Caribbean Regional Workshop in December 2018 at which sixteen countries were represented and discussions held on improving fuel efficiency in the transport sector and reducing air pollution.
