Accredited by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) ANNUAL REPORT 2018-2019 University of Technology, Jamaica 41 innovative pedagogical approaches, law, gender- based violence, foreign language education, public and environmental health, community & urban development, material science (analysis of concrete), data protection, social media, and ICT applications in curricula and agriculture. Highlights of the day’s event were shared with the public by way of an outside radio broadcast. The publication that accompanied RTID 2019 was a compilation of the Abstracts from the Theses and Dissertations of Graduate Students spanning the period 2001 to 2018. The publication was titled “ Preparing the Next Generation of Researchers to Advance Knowledge and Solve Problems. ” Research Development Fund (RDF) Internal funding for research and related activities continued through the Research Development Fund (RDF). The RDF provides support for all areas of research undertaken by staff members. During the period under review, several research projects were approved for funding of which, the following two were particularly impactful: 1. ‘ Young Jamaicans in a Hyper-Connected World (Teens & Technology) ’, led by Professor Paul Golding of the College of Business and Management (Co-Investigator Mrs. Lisa Facey- Shaw, Faculty of Engineering & Computing). 2. ‘ Student Life and Learning at the University of Technology, Jamaica’ led by Professor Fitzroy Henry and team (Miss Melissa Nelson, Mrs. Renelle Aarons-Morgan, and Mrs. Vanessa White-Barrow). A presentation of the research findings was made to internal University stakeholders at a ceremony in January 2019. Additionally, findings from the research were presented to internal stakeholders and the public at RTID in March 2019. Dr. Gaunette Sinclair- Maragh, Head, School of Hospitality and TourismManagement, accepts the President’s Award for Excellence in Research from Professor Stephen Vasciannie, President.
