Accredited by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) ANNUAL REPORT 2018-2019 University of Technology, Jamaica 40 Accreditation of Graduate Courses During the period under review, the following Graduate courses of study were awarded accreditation by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ): y Master of Science in Mathematics Teaching y Master of Science in Workforce Training and Education y Master of Science in Built Environment President’s Research Award, 2018 The purpose of the award is to stimulate research and scholarly activities by identifying and recognizing individuals who demonstrate exceptional ability through their scholarly activities, research publications, research income generation and grantsmanship, creative research activity and other research outputs. Research, Technology and Innovation Day The University’s annual Research Technology and Innovation Day (RTID), was held on March 14, 2019. The one-day event was held under the theme “Research and Innovation … Fuelling a Bright Future”. The well received keynote address was delivered by innovative industry leader Mr. Gary “Butch” Hendrickson, Chairman and CEO, Continental Baking Company and Coconut Bay Management. His presentation, which was later widely reported on in print media, highlighted the need for better use of technology and data to drive research and innovation in Jamaica. The event showcased exhibits of research and innovation undertaken by members of faculty, staff and students.
