The workshop was geared towards reinforcing the expectations of the programme and developing mentoring skills among persons interested in being a part of the programme. A total 20 attendees, which consisted of UTech, Jamaica staff, alumni and corporate representatives were present. The Mentorship Programme Opening Reception was held on October 4, 2018. The programme consisted of 100 mentors and 100 mentees. The Unit held the Mentorship programme Closing Reception on April 11, 2018. The event catered to the mentors and mentees. Forty (40) mentees and mentors confirmed that they would attend the Reception. However, 15 mentees and mentors were in attendance. Western Campus Mentorship Programme The Western Campus Mentorship Opening Reception was held on January 30, 2019 with 63 mentors and mentees. The University of Technology, Jamaica Western Campus forged an alliance with the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) to bolster the University’s student mentorship programme. The partnership aims to build self- confidence and help prepare students to become more career-focused. Career & Job Placement Fair 2019 - “Advanc- ing into the World of Work” The Unit successfully executed the University’s Career & Job Placement Fair on March 15, 2019 at the Alfred Sangster Auditorium, Papine Campus. A total of 51 companies participated on the day of the event. Company representatives conducting an interviews with final year students at the Career and Job Placement Fair. The company feedback survey indicated that 86% of the companies expressed an interest in employing our graduates. The survey also indicated that 85% of the companies were satisfied with the University’s preparation of our students for the world of work. Additionally, 74% of the companies indicated that they would accept students for internship. Dress for Success 2019 The services of Dress for Success organization were solicited once again to prepare female students for Job Fair 2019. Of the 37 registered, 28 students were suited.
