Accredited by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) ANNUAL REPORT 2018-2019 University of Technology, Jamaica 14 areas related to the work of the Council such as the President’s Targets Ad Hoc Committee. The University Secretariat facilitated 45 meetings of these bodies during the period. Council Evaluation The Council completed its evaluation exercise at its meeting on September 17, 2018 using a revised instrument which had been refined by the Governance Committee in August 2018. Ms Gene Douglas of Gemado Associates Limited was contracted to analyse the findings and prepare a report. The report was submitted to the Council at its December meeting. Further consideration was given to the recommendations therefrom by a smaller group led by the Pro-Chancellor. Council Retreat The Council met on November 19, 2018 at the Knutsford Court Hotel to consider and approve elements of the University’s Strategic Plan for 2018/2019 – 2021/2022. The Retreat was facilitated by Mr. Robert Wynter of Strategic Alliance Ltd. Council Training In keeping with a request from the Council, a sensitization session on the Balanced Scorecard Methodology was delivered by Mr Robert Wynter on March 1, 2019 at the Papine Campus. Mr. Wynter had also worked with the Executive Management team in the setting up of the Strategic Plan for 2018/2019 – 2021/2022. Establishment of Joint Committee of Council and Academic Board for the Appointment or Reappointment of President and Deputy President Preparations were initiated on the process for appointment or reappointment of the President and Deputy President, the contracts of which would end on December 31, 2019 and January 4, 2020 respectively.
