University of Technology, Jamaica “Pioneering Past; Bright Future ” ANNUAL REPORT 2017-2018 47 Seminar, Student Internship at the Food Awards and most recently the addition of summer internships. In 2018, The Jamaica Observer gave the University of Technology, Jamaica a total of $4.5 Million Dollars ($4,5085,500.00) in scholarship donations for a single year. This $4.5 Million Dollars was donated through three programmes which befitted students from SHTM, FELS and COHS as follows: y The Table Talk Scholarship awards – 6 final year students from the SHTM pursuing courses in Food Service Management were awarded full scholarships valued at $2.6 Million Dollars ($2,607,000.00). y Silver Anniversary Scholarship – for the first time, the Jamaica Observer awarded 5 students from the FELS and SCIT full scholarships to cover their tuition. These students also have the opportunity to become Summer Interns with the Jamaica Observer to gain valuable industry experience. The scholarships are valued at $1.78 Million Dollars ($1,784500.00). y Internship provided for SHTM Students - For the seventh consecutive year, students of the University were afforded the opportunity to work as interns at the prestigious Jamaica Observer ‘Table Talk’ Food Awards. In addition to the usual participants from SHTM the opportunity to participate was extended to students from FELS pursing Family and Consumer studies and students from COHS pursuing Dietetics & Nutrition. A total of 39 students participated and the students received a stipend from the Jamaica Observer valued at a total of $117,000.00. The students had the opportunity Ja.
