The ODL Symposium included a Technology Exhibition of product and service demonstrations on assistive technologies, robotics, animation and other educational technologies. The exhibitors included CHEETAH™ (toys and tablet educational software company), Kimroy Bailey-Robotics, SCIT- Animation Group, the HEART/NTA, JTEC, UTech TIC Incubator, and the ODL. Calvin McKain Library Key Milestones • Major efforts by the Calvin McKain Library management team to improve operationally as part of the university’s push towards achieving institutional accreditation • The library rece i ved a major award at the annual ACURIL Conference in June 2017 • Successful staging of the 10th Biennial COLINET Symposium in February 2018 • Major boost in the expenditure on electronic resources for the library • Statistical increases in the number of electronic databases and books being use • Further replacement of print resources with electronic resources • Opening hours extended to Sundays. New Subscriptions/Upgrade During the year, the Justis law database was upgraded to the JustisOne platform, which included CariLaw. Additionally, the Global Online Access to Legal Information (GOALI) was launched on the Research-4-Life platform in March 2018. Another change saw the Emerald Plus subscription being upgraded to Emerald Premier in February 2018. Trial Databases During the year the library benefitted from trials to a number of new electronic resources. These included: • European Books - ORP Index ( Directory of Ongoing Research Projects in European Countries ) Trial - 19th September - 19th December 2017. • Birkhäuser Building Types Online database Trial October 6 – November 10, 2017. • Access Physiotherapy Trial October 10, 2017 - November 09, 2017. • Access Science Trial October 10, 2017 - November 09, 2017. • LexisNexis Library Trial July 2017.
