University of Technology, Jamaica “Pioneering Past; Bright Future ” ANNUAL REPORT 2017-2018 10 The Academic Affairs Division, under the direction of the Deputy President, continues to provide overall direction of academic support services for development and implementation of standards, policies, procedures and regulations to govern the delivery of the University’s academic programmes at both the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Administrative Restructuring During the Academic Year 2017-2018 there was official separation of functions of the former Office of Curriculum Development and Evaluation (OCDE) for the establishment of the Office of Quality Assurance (OQA) and the Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL). New Courses of Study Proposals for the following new courses of study were reviewed by the Curriculum Committee • The Associate Degree in Image Consulting & Fashion Styling • New Minor for the B.Sc. in Child & Adolescent Development • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems • Associate Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts Revised Courses of Study • B.Sc. Land Economy and Valuation Surveying • B.Sc. in Surveying and Geographic Information Sciences • B.Sc. in Midwifery Institutional Accreditation The University submitted its application for Institutional Accreditation to the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) in January 2018 and a visit date was set for April 30-May 4, 2018.
