University of Technology, Jamaica ANNUAL REPORT 2016-2017 Page 21 Excellence Through Knowledge STUDENT RECRUITMENT The Student Recruitment Unit continued the drive to identify prospective students; provide them with information about the University and encourage them to apply and enroll to the University. The student recruitment activities carried out throughout the year included recording and responding to prospective students enquiries, responding to letters of invitation from schools, organizing teams for school visits and career fairs along with representatives from the various colleges and faculties to promote the University and organizing other student recruiting activities, including campus tours and the annual Open House at the Papine and Montego Bay campuses. The annual Open House was held Tuesday, September 27 in Kingston and Thursday, September 29, 2016 in Montego Bay under the theme “Find Your Place at the Birthplace of Greatness”. Over 1,300 students from 28 high schools participated in Kingston and over 100 from 6 schools participated in Montego Bay. Applications were collected at the event. Overseas Recruitment Miss Kerry-Ann White (left), Assistant Registrar-Student Recruitment and Mrs Janice Sinclair-Morgan, International Students’ Coordinator represented the University at a three day International College Fair in Curacao. Attendance at College Fairs continues to be a relevant strategy for student recruitment based on the number of persons who indicated that they first heard about UTech, Jamaica at the college fairs.
