University of Technology, Jamaica ANNUAL REPORT 2016-2017 Page 19 Excellence Through Knowledge ceremony held at the University’s Papine campus on Monday, July 25, 2016. The collection is now housed at the University’s Calvin McKain Library. Arrangements for the donation of the formidable collection were spearheaded by the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies, with which Dr. Heather Little-White had a special connection, having taught modules and served as External Examiner in the Family and Consumer Studies course of study. Dr. Little-White also served UTech, Jamaica as part-time Lecturer in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM) from 1997 and was also Programme Coordinator for the PhD in Human Environmental Sciences with an option in Hospitality Administration offered by UTech, Jamaica in collaboration with Oklahoma State University, USA since 2009. Periodical Budget (Electronic Databases) y y A total of sixty nine million, six hundred and ninety thousand, five hundred and eight three dollars ($69,690,583) was allocated for the financial year April 2016-March 2017. Even though this represented an increase of four million, eight hundred and thirty eight thousand, six hundred and thirty five dollars ($4,838,635) or 7.46% increase over the previous budget for 2015-2016, it was still not adequate to cover the resources that we were mandated to acquire and manage. This figure also represented a 10.14% reduction in the budgetary allocation for subscriptions Database Usage The library continued to invest heavily in the acquisition and renewal of subscriptions for electronic databases. As a consequence, the usage of databases and other electronic resources continued to show astronomical increases and continued to far outstrip the use of print resources. As an example, the use of the EBSCOhost databases continued to the most heavily used electronic resources (See Table below).
