University of Technology, Jamaica ANNUAL REPORT 2016-2017 Page 17 Excellence Through Knowledge Calvin McKain Library During the period under review the library provided dynamic and excellent customer service to the university community and its stakeholders through partnership with faculty in supporting the University’s teaching, learning, research and outreach strategies. Visits were made by senior library staff to all the University’s off-site campuses to ensure that high levels of customer service and standards were maintained throughout all the library units. The policies and procedure manuals were also reviewed and updated to reflect the current goals and objectives of the library. Key milestones Library Awards and Special Recognition y y The Library staff received the President’s Award for Innovation at the 2016 Annual University Staff Awards ceremonyheld on May 27, 2016 at the Alfred Sangster Auditorium. This award was in recognition of the innovative services introduced in recent times at the library and included a cash prize of $100,000. y y There was also significant publicity for the library and the university with the selection Mr David Drysdale University Librarian Prof. Stephen Vasciannie, CD (right), President, University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Ja.) presents a collection of his law publications which he authored, to Mr. David Drysdale, University Librarian during a visit and tour of the Calvin McKain Library, Papine campus on Wednesday, January 11, 2017.
