During the period, the College administered examinations online using the Fuze web-conferencing application. This online proctoring process enabled administrative and technical personnel from the College, the University Examination Office and ODL to visually monitor students as they completed the exams using UTechOnline. Faculty and Student Support for Online Learning y y The Unit trained over 400 faculty members through face-to-face and online sessions and provided online orientation resources for over 5,000 students using UTechOnline. y y Eleven staff members including distance learning liaison officers from four faculties commenced an online training course in March 2017 to become certified Moodle Course Developers. ODL also invited four staffmembers of the HEART TRUST-NTA to participate, as part of an emerging collaboration to build a wider resource network of skilled personnel to support online-distance learning. y y Over 290 students utilized the TurnItIn – plagiarism check facility in UTechOnline to test the originality of their assignments. The number of users continues to grow with increased awareness of this software plug-in feature. y y The ODL created and offered fully online training modules, which are competency-based and self-paced to orient faculty on using the UTechOnline Learning Management System (LMS). Six faculty members and one technical staff member completed the Basic Training Online Course and were awarded certificates of achievement. Other training courses are available in the series.
