University of Technology, Jamaica ANNUAL REPORT 2016-2017 Page 11 Excellence Through Knowledge ACADEMIC AFFAIRS DIVISION Under the direction of the Deputy President, the Academic Affairs Division continues to provide overall direction of academic support services for development and implementation of standards, policies, procedures and regulations to govern the delivery of the University’s academic programmes at both the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. New Courses of Study, Policy Guidelines New Course of Study • Certificate in Critical Care Nursing (added during the 2016-17 Academic Year) Revised Courses of Study • Bachelor of Science in Midwifery • Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering which also had a name change to the Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering (B.Eng.) Franchise Programmes • The College of Health Sciences has expanded its reach to Trinidad & Tobago and offers online/blended courses in Belize, Canada, Barbados, Anguilla, Antigua, St. Lucia, Grenada, St. Vincent & the Grenadines. • Over 387 students were enrolled in the Franchise programmes at Community Colleges in Jamaica. Institutional Accreditation The University submitted its Institutional Self Study to the University Council of Jamaica for review and feedback in January, 2017. The final document is being submitted in June 2017, along with the letter of application, for Institutional Accreditation. It is expected that the related Accreditation Visit will be scheduled before the end of 2017. Prof. Colin Gyles Deputy President
